Growing up I was in and out of church. I learned how to be a nominal christian until a little over a year ago when God really got a hold of my heart through a Bible study I started attending. As the things in my life changed to be more God focused, I met Rachel, my fiance now. When our relationship started to progress, she asked me what I thought about missions. I wasn’t interested. From what I understood about missions, people went, hugged a bunch of kids, took pictures, and left. Instead of doing that, I wanted to get involved in a church and work on building it up. When Rachel and I ended up at a missions conference, they explained how church building and long-term missions are tied together. I have always had an interest in Japan, and when I looked it up, I found that they are the second largest unreached people group. I would love to work with churches in Japan if that’s what God desires. This short-term trip should be a huge help to us in seeking out His will.
