Sean Chen recently graduated in June 2026 with his PhD in Electrical Engineering from UCLA. In his free time, he enjoys playing and producing music, hiking, and making long trips in search of good food.
Sean was first introduced to the world of missions and the global church through Urbana 2015. Since then, Urbana has played an important role in shaping his heart for missions, and he has been part of and helped lead teams for the next three conferences. Through these experiences, God continued to grow in him a desire to see His work among the nations.
Sean has also served in short-term missions before, and Taiwan has been a place that God has highlighted to him on numerous occasions. He has a personal history with Taiwan, having spent two high school summers there, and God has placed missions on his heart once more.
This July, Sean will be serving with OMF in Tianzhong, Taiwan, for a three-week summer missions trip. The team will help run two Monday-Friday English camps for elementary students, each hosted by a local church. Students will rotate through five stations throughout the day: games, English, foreign culture and holidays, crafts, and Bible stories, which will be led by local church members. Sean will be helping with English, worship, and other areas as needed.
Sean hopes this trip will be both an opportunity to serve the local churches and children in Tianzhong, and a discernment and vision trip as he prayerfully considers whether God may be calling him toward long-term missions in Taiwan.
