About This Project

Who Are We?

Thank you for stopping by our Partner Hub page! We are Stephen Moorey and Brenda Sansom-Moorey. We were both born in Massachusetts and later met and married in Tongduchon, Korea. However, even before we were married, we each knew that we had a call from God to serve in missions. We have observed and served short-term in Korea, the Phillippines, China, and Mongolia. Steve served as a chaplain in hospitals and hospices for 25 years. Brenda was an editor and language coach at Fuller Theological Seminary for 17 years.

 Prayer: Our Call to Mission

In 2016 as we began exploring opportunities for missionary service, we found OMF International, the successor of the famous China Inland Mission, founded by James Hudson Taylor in 1865. What impressed us most about OMF was how integral prayer is to everything the workers do. A common refrain we heard from people there was, “We are praying for you.” We were amazed to discover that this was not just a conventional phrase; the speakers were truly "walking the walk."

In the summer of 2022, we went with OMF on a three-month short-term mission trip to Mongolia. While there, we saw beautiful places and met a spirited and proud people. We also saw disturbing evidence of the spiritual grip of shamanism and Tantric Buddhism on Mongolians and their families.

Yet we also saw God touch and heal people on all levels in amazing ways as we prayed for people from many walks of life, including many sick people. However, we were not praying alone. Many of you in the US were also praying for us and our ministry in Mongolia. So we saw again that no mission work can be truly accomplished without prayer.

Partnering with Resonate

For the past 8 years or so we have been participating in ministry at Hope International Church, a Christian Reformed Church (CRC), in Arcadia, CA. In October 2023, we were excited to become official CRC partners through Resonate, the missions branch of the CRC. We are grateful to have their support and look forward to supporting missions programs in our local churches.

Here is the link to our Resonate web page.

Prayer Is the Mission

After returning to the US, we were asked to consider becoming directors of the Prayer Mobilization Team at OMF. After much prayer and reflection, we realized that this was indeed God’s call for Steve.

OMF has an extraordinary team of people dedicated to praying for OMF operations in East and Southeast Asia. As the director of Prayer Mobilization, Steve and the prayer mobilization team will be active in training volunteers in the basics of praying for the nations. His main goal as director of prayer mobilization will be to ensure that all of the Kingdom work of those in our organization is undergirded with prayer.

Brenda, in turn, has sensed God’s call in mission advocacy. As the Regional Manager for Advocacy Mobilization in the LA area, she will have opportunities to present and provide resources about missions to students in local colleges and universities, inviting them to come on board. She also hopes to work with local pastors to assist them in establishing mission emphases in their churches.

 The Plan

To begin working in our salaried positions by March 2024, we will need to reach our OMF-established budget of about $6,000 per month. As of January 31, 2024 we were at just over 70% of our goal! We still need to raise $21,000 (either through one-time donations or through monthly pledges). Thanks to all of you who have been walking with us through your prayers and/or financial support.  If you have not officially joined our team, would you ask God if and how He would have you partner with us?

We look forward to talking with you and bringing you with us as we move further into God’s work of reconciling the whole world to Himself through Christ.
