The Lord has put the Japanese on my heart very heavily over the course of this past year, and I am desperately seeking to fulfill his will and seek and serve him. As he puts resources and people with connections to the japanese and japanese missionaries in my life, the calling continues to become more clear. This missions trip will be fundamental in my college and career decisions, because as I feel the call the be a full-time missionary in Japan and seek to prepare myself for being in this position for a long time, this is an opportunity to get my feet wet and be sure that I am following the Lord’s will. In a nation with less than 1% of a population of christians, and .01% of students within the christian population, the Japanese need leaders, artists, musicians, pastors, and people to love and serve them as the church continues to seek growth in their nation.
Before I leave the US, I will be participating in training to prepare me for international travel, working with a team, and communicating the Gospel message to people from another culture, as well as personal preparation and learning Japanese language basics to better communicate. Once I arrive in Hirosaki I will be working with Pastor Martin Ghent and his wife Ruth, two full time missionaries in Japan since 1986 and the staff of Hirosaki Nozomi Christ Church, as well as aiding student ministry at Hirosaki University. During the daytime hours, our team will assist in several work projects within the church and community. In the evenings, we will be sharing the transformational power of the Gospel to the Japanese people through children’s games, high school and college ministries, by sharing our testimonies of life with God in various locations throughout Hirosaki, and of course, honest one on one conversation. With several youth/universities ministries, mid week services, english classes, and weekend services in english and Japanese, there is never a shortage of work to be done, and people to serve and love!
I’m really looking forward to serving side by side with full-time missionaries, and the rest of the Hirosaki Nozomi Christ Church team and assisting them in accomplishing the will of God for their lives and ministries. It’s an honor for me to serve and help them touch the lives of the people in their city. Our goal is to minister to the people of this nation with the love of Jesus in a practical and powerful way, and understand how to bring Jesus to their unique culture and expectations.
I am asking my friends and family to prayerfully consider helping me with the expenses of this mission project. Within the next few months I need to raise $2,500. My contribution goal date is May 1st, 2019; however, additional late gifts will be accepted. If you could possibly make any donation towards the trip, I would very much appreciate it.
