As many of you know every since my 1st missions trip to Japan, I've been praying for the LORD to guide me, teach me, and show me what to do in the missions field. I found that I love the country of Japan and have a heart to serve in some type of way there.
But as I continued to learn about missions I gradually came to learn that the missionary field has more than one job, which for the longest I thought was to go solely and share the gospel until you died. Which I thought was admirable but not desirable. I did NOT put much thought into the details because I assumed it would all work out for them somehow.
Lol well thank the Lord He has brought me out of my naive ignorance and taught me of all the amazing ways we ALL are to be commissioned to go out into the nations and share the good news of Jesus Christ! (Matthew 28:19-20 (ESV): "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you".)
And let me tell you, I am so joy-filled and blessed that the Lord has guided me to where I am at now!
There are multiple ministries within the mission field umbrella ranging from traditional church planting and evangelism to specialized roles in medicine, education, marketplace ministry & business for transformation, community development, technology, etc... These ministries often focus on unreached people groups, Bible translation, and training local leaders to establish sustainable, gospel-centered communities.
There are goers (act as frontline missionaries) and senders (act as "rope holders" at home, creating a sustainable, shared ministry).
♡ Goers- representing the biblical partnership between those who cross cultures to preach.
♡ Senders- those who enable them through prayer, funding, and support.
Interesting enough in 2024 when asked the question with my twin sister Lichaela," are you a goer or sender?" We had to either walk to the left wall if we felt the Lord was calling us to be goers and the right wall if the Lord was calling us to be senders. I went right and Lichaela went left! We turned around and looked at each other in astonishment because we each thought we were going to be on each other's side! What we didn't realize then was that we were, but from a new point of view.
Fast forward 2 years later I see the Lord has blessed me with a unique calling that is not the same as my sister. He's weaned me off of my reliance of one of my most favorite people in the world and reprioritized my thoughts, ways and everything else to God 1st. And I thank Him so much for that! I've prayed how I can use what God has blessed me with in order to bless others, further His kingdom and if I am to truly be a goer or sender.
No sooner after I prayed that prayer I joined Lichaela on a zoom meeting with some global partners in Japan, and they asked about me(which was surprisingbecause im used to the conversatio, especiallyabout mission work, beind on Lichaela), I shared about myself and how I love to cook, and serve others through hospitality and care. I also shared how I felt led to be a sender and was taking steps to do it (like hosting mission support dinners, fundraisers, etc...) but I wanted to make sure by going on another mission trip. God answered two prayers in that moment because there are individuals in Japan who have been praying for someone to help them in the kitchen and prepare meals for the children they are going to be hosting for summer camp this year because the person that usually helps them is on home assignment!
So here I am support raising and preparing to go and support missionaries and their children by tending to their needs. And praise the Lord that I get to cook, the thing that i love to do, in the process!
Thank you all who are supporting me through prayer and finances. I pray that you don’t only see what the Lord is doing in my life, but look and see what He is doing in yours, what He is calling you to do, give, or sacrifice. And I pray that you do it to the fullest with joy, faith, love and purpose!
