Konnichiwa Family and Friends!!
I hope you are well and enjoying yet another beauitful fall (aka pumpkin spice) season. I would like to share with you what God has been teaching me in this season of my life and His plans for my near future. God has recently placed in my heart a desire to serve Him overseas, and I have the opportunity to do so this summer with OMF International in Japan.
OMF International was founded as the China Inland Mission in 1865 by pioneer missionary to China, Hudson Taylor. OMF has more than 120 full-time missionaries working in Japan in three geographic areas (Hokkaido, Tohoku, and Kanto). I have been accepted to participate in the OMF Serve Japan summer missions project. This is a six-week trip in which I will be joining an international team to reach out to the people of Hirosaki, Japan. I will be serving at Nozomi Church where I will be helping with activities such as church services, english classes, weekly outreach with high school and university students, and small bible studies. Most importantly though I will get countless opportunities to share with people the faith and hope of Jesus Christ and how He has forever changed my life.
Japan is somewhere I never would have imagined the Lord would lead me to next. As I discovered more about this beautiful culture though, I noticed it’s great need for Jesus Christ the true eternal hope we each have in Him. I’ve included some extra pages about Japan, it’s people and about where I will be serving. I pray that you will take a moment to read through it and consider partnering with me throughout this journey.
During this time of preparation I would like to ask you to partner with me through your prayers. Please pray:
- That I will grow closer to God through this trip.
- For God to give me His heart for the people of Japan.
- For God to provide all that I need through this process (spiritually, physically, emotionally and financially).
- That the growing church in Tohoku, Japan will thrive and multiply.
I invite you to be a part of what God is doing in Japan. While you might not be able to actually go to Japan with me, you can make a difference there. The financial cost of this program is $5,000 which has presented me with a great opportunity to trust God to provide for what He has called me to do!
I am bursting with excitement about how God will change the lives of those we reach together in Japan. Even though God’s ways are not always clear, I know that He has great plans for me and it is our job to listen to His call and “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.” Thank you for taking the time to read my letter and I will keep you posted on the next steps in my journey.
