Toward the end of my college career at Biola, I felt led by the Lord to serve on the overseas mission field. At first, I was not sure where or how He would lead me, but God has directed me toward the organization OMF through Biola University's missions conference. He has continued to open the doors for me to serve overseas, and now specifically I am serving with OMF in Japan in October!
OMF International is a missionary organization reaching East Asia. Founded by missionary Hudson Taylor, OMF mobilizes churches through both long-term and short-term missionaries to serve His people and ultimately share the Good News of the gospel to God's glory.
Working with OMF, I will be serving with a small team in South Tohoku, Japan on a prayer journey. For two weeks in October, we will be visiting and encouraging small local Japanese churches, missionaries, and mission initiatives through prayer to further the gospel. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 encourages believers to "rejoice always, pray without ceasing, [and] give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." I desire to do His will in prayer with this team in October and partner with the Holy Spirit in prayer to reignite a love for God in South Tohoku.
Through this short-term missions trip, I hope to glean more about the call God has put on my heart for overseas missions. I desire to learn more about our vast God through meeting people from other churches and keep my hands open to receive what He will teach me. The Lord has been teaching me about the power of prayer and the importance of seeking Him and interceding through prayer; so I desire to experience the power of prayer alongside others overseas and continue learning with an open mind. I know that God calls His children to be on mission wherever they are, and it is my hope that through this trip God reveals where He might have me serve in the future!
