For those I haven’t personally met, my name is Tommy Morse. I pray we can get to know one another!
WHAT’S HAPPENING?
I’m excited to announce that this year from March 19, 2018 to March 2019, I will be serving full-time in Japan in the Hongodai area of Yokohama through Overseas Missionary Fellowship-Serve Asia!
I will be at both Hongodai Christ Church and the church-affiliated NOAH International School, teaching English and doing Youth Discipleship and Evangelism. I will be walking alongside the students as they get to know or grow in God! This means doing English and bilingual bible studies, youth services, university campus evangelism and discipleship, and more. My role at the church is youth focused, but the structure and schedule are still being solidified.
Though this is an initial 1-year commitment for me, I believe God to be leading me to long-term service in Japan. I appreciate Serve Asia’s focus on discipleship and integration, which I think will help me further discern God’s call. Over the past 5 years, God has grown my heart for both Japanese people and youth as I’ve gone on GVBC’s short-term missions in Japan, spent time with international students and my church’s Japanese congregation, and served in the high school ministry. I love walking with others through life, seeing God grow them, and especially sharing Him with them. I’m excited to be able to use what God has been growing in me through both work and ministry!
Additionally, there are opportunities to reach out to a local university, and collaborate with a church plant in Tohoku (Northeastern Japan).
WHAT’S OMF AND SERVE ASIA?
China Inland Mission began about 150 years ago as a group of missionaries seeking to reach new areas in China with the Gospel. Since then, it has become Overseas Missionary Fellowship (OMF), an international mission agency that primarily focuses on East Asia.
Serve Asia is an OMF short-term program that intentionally disciples participants through training, service time, debriefing, follow-up, and integrating this experience into their lives.
