Trek information
I will be serving for three weeks as a Kitchen Assistant at Aomori Christian Center in Aomori Prefecture, mainly helping in the kitchen with a missionary, and sometimes engaging with the campers or other staff that will be there. My service dates are from July 18th to August 7th. Please bear in mind that it will take extra time to get up to Aomori from Tokyo, so please plan accordingly.
Here are some tips I've been given;
Always travel with some extra cash, especially internationally, as well as a copy of your passport in case you lose it. Printing out most of the attached documents can also be helpful if you need information and are having trouble connecting to the internet.
For Japan, we recommend bringing at least ¥30,000/ aprox $200 USD to cover expenses for at least a few weeks. Those whose money will be managed through OMF should bring about ¥60,000 for the first month or so to give time to get a banking account set up (if needed).
If you are willing to drive in Japan, getting an international license can be helpful, especially if you’re serving in more rural areas, where getting around by car is more common. Most countries issue international licenses for tourist for up to a year.
We look forward to having you in Japan and hope you will have a blessed service time here!
