Soaring, Running, Walking in the uncertainty of 'exile' (Isaiah 40:27-31)

September 23, 2021

We really wish we had more news about when we might be able to return to the Philippines.  The decision will seem to rely on a variety of moving parts aligning.  Those moving parts seem to include, among other things, increased Covid-19 vaccination coverage in the Philippines (this week the Philippines reached 17% fully vaccinated), the capacity of the medical infrastructure in the Philippines (currently under significant stress due to the Delta variant of Covid-19), if or when we might need and/or be able to get Covid-19 booster shots, and the responses of governments, to this situation.

So, we continue to live and minister in Arvada, Colorado, USA.  We mix local ministries in our local church and in a church plant of our church network.  We mentor and consult in the Philippines virtually via the Internet.  We enjoy having a bit of time for reading and study (Jay is doing a deep-ish dive in Titus which has been interesting, challenging, and encouraging, for example).  We are soaring, running, and walking as we wait upon the Lord and hope in Him (Isaiah 40:30-31).  He gives strength!

Jay's latest quarterly oncology checkup in August confirmed that he is now a year in remission.  He feels normal (well, a 64-year-old normal).  Amor's eyes are healing up nicely after her cataract surgeries in July and August, with much improved vision.

Thank you for your continued prayers and support!

30 Even youths grow tired and weary,
    and young men stumble and fall;
31 but those who hope in the Lord
    will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
    they will run and not grow weary,
    they will walk and not be faint.  (Isaiah 40:30-31, NIV)
