'For your sakes he became poor'
One of our favorite Christmas verses is: "You know the generous grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. Though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor so that by his poverty he could make you rich.” (2 Corinthians 8:9 NLT). A moving Christmas carol by former OMF General Director Frank Houghton is based on this verse. Listen to it at: "Thou Who Wast Rich". The carol grew out of a response to the martyrdom of an OMF missionary couple in China. The carol also helped to keep the surviving missionaries focused on Christ and their ministries at that time. It also helps us now with this same focus.
May we and you effectively both lean on and communicate this generous grace of our Lord Jesus Christ in this busy month of December and on into the New Year.
