Philippines Sojourn '25-'26
Our four-month sojourn in the Philippines is nearly over. Our flights to Denver, Colorado, USA are scheduled for February 23. Overall, we feel a deep sense of God´s care and blessing. We are grateful for how God continues to use us, in small, but we pray, important ways in the lives of family, friends, colleagues, godchildren, neighbors, and others in the Philippines.
We enjoyed catching up with various family members in Quezon City, Antipolo, and San Fernando. Some of these conversations were also spiritually important.
There is nothing quite like long-term friendships. We were IVCF student workers as singles with Ferdie and Doray. We were at their wedding in December 1985. We have remained friends after our respective marriages. It was fun to celebrate their 40th anniversary with them and their children and others. They recently retired after many years as pastors.
Many of our ministry connections were in quieter ways with missionaries, pastors, professors, student workers, and others. Tears were shed, as were joys. Scripture and stories were shared to comfort, encourage, challenge, and give perspective. We prayed with and for them.
There were opportunities for more formal ministry. Speaking in a seminary chapel. Teaching a workshop. Governance. Giving devotions. Leading worship. Preaching.
We had evangelistic conversations. May God water the gospel seeds that were planted.
May God also use us, in small, but we pray, important ways in the lives of family, friends, colleagues, godchildren, neighbors, and others in the USA until we return to the Philippines around October.
Thank you for your prayers!
