International Consultation for OMF's Personnel Directors in Singapore

June 17, 2019

Greetings, everyone, from Singapore!

I (Barry) am presently here at OMF’s International Center this week to attend an international consultation for OMF’s personnel directors (my role) and for those who handle new candidates in both our home and fields (in the US, an area that falls within my responsibility).  We’re dealing with such important issues as data managing and sharing, candidate processing, and medical care for our members.  This week is also a very valuable opportunity to connect and network with those leaders who serve on the fields where we send people to serve.  Please pray that our week together would go well, and for safety in travel.  Jan normally travels with me on international trips, but felt this week that she would stay home and work on projects there.  May this be a good and productive week for us both!

Also, today as I write (Monday), our son Ryan and Nelle, who serve in Japan, along with their four precious kids (pictured above), have departed from Tokyo for a quick, three-week trip to the US to see family, meet with potential ministry partners, and look to God for an increase in their support.  They will start by spending most of this week with Ryan’s brother Cameron and his family in TX.  The cousins in both families are very close in age to one another,  but because of distance don’t see each other much, and in fact have not been together for several years.  May this be a very sweet time for both families as they spend precious time together, and may they see an increase in support as they share their burden for ministry in Japan with churches, friends, and potential partners.  They write, “Please pray with us for safe and smooth travels, patience and flexibility as we navigate all the details with our four small kids.

In the meantime, our twice-yearly Candidate Course is coming up in just a few weeks back in Colorado.  Right now we have 17 candidates enrolled, a great number—all desiring to serve God somewhere in Asia!  You might pray for one of the couples in particular, though… they’re enthusiastic to attend (they want to serve in Japan, which is a blessing to us personally!), but are presently not fully qualified to receive a visa for Japan.  We pray that God’s will may be clearly evident in their lives and in their sense of calling.

Thanks so much, as always, for your prayers and financial support on our behalf!
