HART, National Conference and More
Greetings once again from Colorado.
HART. This week, we just finished our twice-yearly Home Assignment Reunion and Training (HART), with 27 returning missionaries who serving on 11 of our fields in Asia—quite a cross-section of ministries and work. As always, it has been great to hear their stories and enjoy becoming acquainted, or reacquainted, with them. We have had a family of six with us at our guest home who are serving in Vietnam, and are back just for a few weeks this summer. We are thankful for the good time of fellowship and updating with them and pray that we have been an encouragement and help to them while they are here with us.
National Conference. Most of them are still here, though, as we move straight into National Conference—which is making this an especially busy week for us. These last few days, I was running our HART program at the same time that I was working at finalizing details and preparing sessions for National Conference. This is the first time in five years that this conference is being held, and we expect about 200 to attend, including staff members, missionaries back from the field, friends and donors, and retirees. This is a very big event, full of lots of potential blessing, but also lots of work and details! Pray that God is using both of these important occasions this week for his glory!
Candidate Course. Thanks to those who were praying for our candidate course, which concluded just a few weeks ago. All of those who attended were appointed to serve in Asia, for which we are very thankful. We pray now that they will all be able to wind up their jobs and responsibilities in this country, quickly raise the needed support, and be heading to their fields of service as quickly as possible!
Future Travels. In September, we will be traveling to Singapore to facilitate some training, and to attend meetings for those of us in mission leadership. We’re making arrangements now for the trip, and pray that it will be a blessing not only to us, but to all who attend. We will also travel to Japan to see family and friends.
Thank you as always for your prayers for us and for our ministries both here in Denver, and as we travel to Asia.
Many blessings,
Barry and Jan
