Week 3
Can I Tell You a Secret
“Can I tell you a secret…. I am a Christian.” This is part of my friend Rachel’s* story. She grew up in a closed nation and a friend in her class took the risk to share her faith with Rachel. Rachel had a great-aunt who would sing her songs as a child of Jesus, but her faith grew when she met a friend at university. Many years later Rachel and her husband are now studying how to be missionaries. I had the privilege of eating dinner with their family this past week and hearing their story. I am excited for Rachel and her family to be on the mission field.
Ministry
We have been preparing for a conference for missionary children in northern Thailand. We will have a total of 20 children. We will be teaching about the Armor of God. Please pray that we keep our energy and health while serving and teaching these children.
Last week a family needed help with childcare while packing for a move. We were able to move several boxes into their new home. I had a lot of fun playing with the children. After it was over the mom said “Thank you so much. I feel a burden lifted off my shoulders.” Never underestimate the power of a day of serving others.
I have been lucky to get to know a family here in Chaing Mai with four young boys. We went to dinner at this family’s house and the boys were so excited to show us EVERYTHING from Legos to caterpillars. It was such a fun evening being able to share a meal with this family.
Recently, a couple from northern Thailand had to evacuate their home from flooding. Their house was covered in mud. They are 37 weeks pregnant and lost a majority of their baby supplies. Our organization hosted a baby shower for her and were able to supply her with diapers and other necessities.
In the last two days, a river has been overflowing into our city. Many homes and businesses have been affected by these floods. My neighborhood is flooded and we have to wade through shallow water. Luckily my team and I are leaving for the mountains for the conference this weekend Floods have made traveling difficult for many people. Some people had to drive their cars to a nearby highway to park for a few days to avoid damage. Please continue to pray for Chaing Mai.
