My refugee friend 'Z'
You shall treat the stranger who sojourns with you as the native among you, and you shall love him as yourself, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God. Leviticus 19:34
We are looking for more people to join
our partnership team – volunteers, advocates, a prayer team – Let
us know if you know anybody that might be
interested.
About a month ago K began teaching English to a 35 year-old refugee man, Z. He, his wife and 12 year old daughter arrived in Dallas three months ago as refugees after spending 10 years in another country of SE Asia. They arrived in the US 3 months ago. We have common 'second languages'. When we get stuck, we look up words on Google translate. Z studied some English in overseas so has some English already. He just got his driver’s license. Our child got his license too, about the same time as. I’ve been enjoying learning culture from Z. His wife seems to always cook something tasty while Z is practicing his English and we get to enjoy it.
