Southeast Asia has come to Dallas
K had the opportunity
to meet some of the Southeast (SE) Asia refugees in the Dallas
inner city. It was like a trip back to SE Asia – sitting on
a floor mat, the pictures on the walls, the restroom, the warm
room temperature…. The wife of a patriarch in the community
generously cooked for us delicious curries with mutton, chicken,
eggs and beef which we ate with our right hand, dipping the bread
in the curry. This couple in their 60s, has 6 children who
live in 6 different countries around the world, where they have
been received as refugees. They called a relative in SE
Asia while we were there and he picked up the phone at 4AM his
time! I got to chat with him on the video call because we
have a mutual friend. The patriarch is fascinated by King
David the prophet. Pray for this family that is yet to know
Jesus who fulfilled the Messianic prophecies and can promise us
eternity in true paradise.
And so I have made it my aim to preach the gospel, not where Christ was named, lest I should build on another man’s foundation, 21 but as it is written:
“To whom He
was not announced, they shall see;
And those who have not heard shall
understand.”
Romans 15:20-21 (NIV)
