I'm going to Asia and God provided for my support in 2018!

January 5, 2019

Dear Friends and Family,

I so appreciate your prayers for me and my family over the years!  I have some exciting news to share with you.  OMF has asked me to attend the International Child Safety Consultation in Singapore January 14-18.  This will be a gathering of all of the OMF Child Safety Officers from home countries and fields. We will be discussing how to prevent child abuse in our organization, and how to respond when we receive allegations of abuse.  We will also be sharing ideas and resources.  Please pray for this important Child Safety Consultation.

I am leaving Thursday January 10 so that I can spend the weekend in Singapore.  My friend Rita (long time co-worker and friend when we worked in Thailand) has set up the opportunity for me to speak at a church and with some of her friends about missions.  In Singapore, I will also get to visit with 2 of the girls who were in our dorm in Chiang Mai and another missionary kid (all now in their 20s).  After the consultation, I will be flying to Burma with good friends Arend and Jolinda to see their ministry there, and be better equipped to pray.

I'll travel from Burma to Chiang Mai on January 22 where I'll get to see Jared and Linnea, two other of our dorm kids who "happen" to be traveling to Chiang Mai at the same time.  I'll also see Thai and missionary friends there.  I'll spend some time in Lopburi and Bangkok before flying to Cambodia on January 29 to visit two other missionary couples to see their ministries there.  I'll be back in the US on February 2.  Please pray for God-encounters throughout my Asia travels.

Thankfully, Alysha is home for this semester, starting an internship at Littleton Equine Medical Center (which has 16 horse vets) on Monday (Jan 7) so she and Scott will keep each other company while I'm gone.  Please pray for Alysha in this 15 week internship and for decisions for her future.

This week before I leave I hope to meet with both Bible study groups - with Dani and Betty on Monday morning and with Reena, Claire and Tasha Tuesday evening - to continue our study Fundamentals of the Faith (John MacArthur).  One of the ladies told me yesterday how much she is enjoying MacArthur's sermons that go with the study - encouraging!  Please pray for these ladies (and their families) to continue to grow in the Lord.

Next Saturday, Scott will be leading a memorial service for 89 year old Minnie from our congregation, one of the founding members.  Please pray for her husband Joe as he misses his wife, and for Scott as he gives a message during the service.  We except non-Christian neighbors and family members to be in attendance.

Thanks for praying for all of this - it means a lot!  A huge praise, I ended 2018 with 100% support for my job at OMF due to some unexpected gifts and the faithful giving of supporters - thank you!  To God be the glory!

All of our kids are doing well.  Matthew with Rachel, Nathan and Alysha were here for Christmas and we had a splendid time together doing a Christian escape room, visiting the Broadmoor and the Brown Palace, time with extended family, playing Pandemic and other games, and just being together.  The kids really enjoyed photobooks I'd made of our past year - so many special events including Nathan's university graduation!  Joshua's submarine arrived in port in Washington just before Christmas.  He wasn't able to fly home, but we had a wonderful Skype call with him - so good to catch up as he had been away for 3.5 months and our only form of communication while he was on the sub was thru emails.  We hope to see Joshua in February.

Would love to receive updates from you too and ways we can pray for you.

Blessings,
Jennifer
