Typhoon Mawar made a "Wobble"!
Dear Friends,
Thank you for your prayers and encouragement! Today a friend texted me "Thank God for the wobble!" And then she sent me this article - https://www.guampdn.com/news/typhoon-mawar-to-pass-through-rota-channel/article_998dc5bc-fa12-11ed-af89-f3a65fd53a2e.html Instead of southern Guam (where Joshua, Megan and kids live) getting a direct hit from the typhoon, it "wobbled" and went north through a channel which seems to have slowed it down a bit. It did a lot of damage, but it could have been much worse! Thank You, Jesus! I had prayed that You would 'push' the storm away and You did!
They have water damage in their home, cracked windows. Lots of wires and trees down and damage to buildings. Here's some video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N2Ani68mU6g - at 25 seconds there is a pickup truck tumbling down the road. Please continue to pray for everyone in Guam as they recover from the stress. I think my grandkids are stir crazy from not being able to go outside.
Awm was moved from ICU to a regular hospital bed yesterday. Still not doing very well though. And Nuansee is stressed, but she says "God is helping me!"
I'm feeling worn out. Played this song this morning - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zulKcYItKIA Yesterday driving back from my chiro appointment, the brakes on my car were failing. Had to push them to the floor to stop the car. Managed to finish a couple of errands cautiously and then drove to the car repair shop. Just before turning off the main road, I heard a honk and looked to see a couple from my neighborhood passing and waving. I quickly called them and they kindly followed me to the car repair shop and then took me out to lunch - so sweet - before driving me home. God's sweet care of me is amazing. Just Saturday, I drove 4 hours round trip to fulfill a last bucket list item (see my Facebook page for pictures of beautiful Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park). So grateful that the car didn't break down on that trip when I was far from home!!
When I got home, I had to lay down for a while because my adrenal gland felt stressed out. Feels like so many things one after another plus the stress of goodbyes and transition and moving logistics. From my devotions this week - "God allowed this for the same reason God allows any affliction — to compel us to trust in Him more, to partner with Him in overcoming obstacles, and to love and praise Him more through our increased dependence on Him and the greater deliverance He brings. For these reasons and more, God sometimes appoints affliction for His people (1 Thessalonians 3:3). In the middle of our affliction it is easy to think God is against us, as Moses did 'Why have I not found favor in Your sight?' God’s response is ever the same: 'It’s because I do love you that I am training you, building you up in faith.' " David Guzik commentary on Numbers 11
Heading out today for final visits at the three companies that I have served as Marketplace Chaplain https://mchapusa.com/ Please pray for me to have energy and love to have good farewells, and to be used as a (cracked pot) vessel to shine the treasure of Jesus to these precious people.
But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us. We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies. 2 Corinthians 4:7-10
