in Surin Thailand
Dear Friends,
I have "survived" the work part of my trip and now I am staying with Nuansee's sister Ram (wearing the hat in the picture) and her husband Yut (seated next to Nuansee in the other picture). They are Buddhists and have images of Buddhas and monks all over the place at their house.
Yesterday Ram told me that if she makes a big business deal that she has been working on for the past two years, she will become a Christian. She plans to travel to south Thailand to close the deal on Tuesday, and told me that she will wear one of her "sacred Buddhas" for protection (she's wearing it in the picture in this email). I told her that she didn't need to wear it. It has no life and God who is her Creator is the one who can protect her. May God draw this precious woman to Himself and reveal Himself to her.
Today we went to an elephant show - a yearly festival for which Surin Province is famous. There were many elephants there - maybe 200? Dressed in fancy costumes, playing soccer, "dancing", re-enacting a famous battle in Thai history, painting. It was very hot and quite loud as well as entertaining. I was very glad to come home afterward!
On Tuesday, we will fly from Buriram to Don Muang (smaller airport in Bangkok) and then take a taxi to the big airport in Bangkok (Suvarnabhumi). We'll have a few hours there before flying back to the US (Bangkok to Seoul, Korea to Boston to Florida). Nuansee's niece (Ram and Yut's daughter) Tengmo (early 30s) is planning to come visit us at the airport. Supposedly she is keen to become a Christian. Tengmo works a lot. It would be key if she would choose to work out a schedule where she could attend a good church regularly so she could get fed spiritually and have fellowship.
I am anxious to get home. I feel quite tired. Figured out I worked 60-70 hour weeks the past four weeks. I think in December I will try to take some time to still and quiet my soul before the Lord and seek His face to be renewed and follow Him.
Also, excited to be in Colorado 10-19 December with Matthew's family, Nathan's family and my parents/siblings/nieces/nephews.
Thanks again for upholding me in prayer,
Jennifer
