Paddle-board Lesson for a Dad & Daughter
While grocery shopping at a local Asian food store last Saturday in Madison, Wisconsin, I heard somebody exclaim, "Jesse!?"
Since we were both wearing facemasks due to COVID-19, we both took a second to verify who we were talking with - it was one of my best international friends from East Asia! We were both all smiles - it's amazing how much we appreciate personal contact when we've all been social-distancing (and are socially-deprived) for months! Even though this friend and I see each other on Zoom at least every week for our Bible discussions, and we talk on the phone usually weekly, we hadn't gotten to see each other in a while in person. We ended up making plans for the next day to take him and his daughter paddle boarding and canoeing for their very first time.
(PHOTO ABOVE) Me wading to shore after sending off our friend on his very first paddle boarding experience! I would soon hop on another board and catch up to him to complete his 'lesson.' We had some great fellowship time and laughs as he realized standing up and balancing on a board in the waves is harder than it looks! I got to answer some of his theological questions and discuss what he's been reading in the Word while out floating on the lake together. Please pray for our friend as he seems very close to making a major spiritual decision!
My friend's daughter had a great time riding in a canoe for her first time ever, but ended up a little seasick - but nothing a little building sandcastles on the beach and a little refreshment couldn't cure. Here she is (PHOTO BELOW) along with our daughters and a friend of theirs.
