'What is Easter?' Outreach
There is nothing quite like seeing people super excited to receive their very first copy of the Word of God in their native language, and asking to join a Bible discussion group! It’s a great joy for us to see the Spirit working in people’s lives in this way as we recently had the opportunity to share the Good News! This was one of the highlights for me from our recent ‘What is Easter?’ outreach event on campus. Our UW-Madison ISM (international student ministry) team joined forces to teach about American cultural celebrations of Easter versus the true, original meaning of Easter: The Resurrection of Jesus.
I (Jesse) was asked to be the MC, and it was a privilege to get to proclaim Jesus as risen from the dead, and explain why we as Christians believe this, and that Jesus is still reigning and active in people’s lives. After I gave an introduction to Easter, we showed Magdalena, an updated version of the Jesus film, explained the film a bit we broke into table groups to answer questions and discuss the meaning of The Resurrection.
