The Bread of Life by Phone-light!
You’ve heard of ‘dinner by candlelight’; but what about ‘God’s Word by phone-light’? Due to increased concern over the Delta Variant of COVID-19, many of our international friends are still being extremely cautious about social distancing, masking, and not meeting indoors. Also, the community center - where we held our Bible discussion during pre-pandemic days - is still closed. For these reasons, we’ve been hosting our Bible study under an outdoor shelter with picnic tables in the center of a huge university-owned apartment complex all summer and now into the autumn. Usually, by the end of our two hours together, it is after sunset and getting quite dark outside. This is why we often end up using phone-lights, and our teammate Terrell has even started bringing a car battery to hook up small table lamps so we can see our Bibles after dark! Mosquitoes can be pesky sometimes, but one benefit of meeting outside in the middle of a huge student housing complex, near a playground and soccer field, is that many people walk by us, or listen in as they allow their children to play on the playground. Please pray with us for the Lord to guide us to new venues for when the Wisconsin weather gets too cold and snowy to meet outdoors!
