A Medically-Documented Miraculous Healing!

February 3, 2021

On January 22, 2021, Kristen had an ultrasound and received the above results. A vascular mass is different from a common ovarian cyst, which is filled with fluid. Ultrasound machines are good at distinguishing between benign cysts and possibly cancerous masses, which have 'vascular' attritubes - in other words, bloodflow to and from them.

The mass on Kristen's left ovary was about the size of a stack of 8 quarters:

After having some friends from church come over and pray that the mass would 'disappear,' Kristen had an MRI scan on Feb. 3, 2021. An excerpt of the results is below:

The 'vascular mass' on her left ovary had mysteriously disappeared in a week and a half with no treatment other than prayer! Her doctor was baffled, and had no explanation for what happened!

If you'd like to read Kristen's perspective, and the full story, please see below...

In January I [Kristen] went to the doctor, who, due to some symptoms I had been having for many months, ordered a pelvic ultrasound.  During the ultrasound, although she could not say anything, it was obvious that the technician found something significant with one of my ovaries.  I walked out of the office thinking, “Oh no, something is there!” Her nervous behavior, and encouragement to talk to the doctor before worrying about any results, heightened my fears.

As soon as I walked into the door at home, the phone rang. The sonographer must have called my doctor immediately.  On the phone my doctor was trying to figure out what it was that they saw.  Normally if it is an ovarian cyst, they can diagnose it through an ultrasound.  This was different and did not look like a cyst.  The mass was vascular, meaning blood was flowing through it, and enlarged the ovary about the size of a stack of eight quarters (see photo on page 2).  My doctor made a comment about, “Well, if it is something, at least we caught it early.”  An MRI was immediately ordered, and we prayed.

The morning before my MRI a friend came over to anoint me with oil, and she and her husband (he joining over speaker phone), prayed over me that God would take it away and for his will to be done.  Many of you know that for most of my life I have dealt with intense anxiety in places/circumstances where I feel trapped.  As they inserted the I.V., strapped me to the table, and inserted me into the MRI machine, I tried to fight back the anxiety.  The worship music I asked them to play came on.  The first song was Hillsong’s “Oceans.”  A perfect song for me at that moment.  I focused on the lyrics and imagined my body free and swaying to the music.  I surrendered the moment and the outcome to Jesus.  Another worship song came on that touched my heart:

“Way maker, miracle worker, promise keeper, Light in the darkness… that is who You are.  Even when I don’t see it You’re working, even when I don’t feel it You’re working… You never stop, You never stop working.”

I walked out of the office that day, and the pain was gone.  The next morning, we looked at the results.  Nothing. Nothing there!  The doctor called me almost apologetically, not being able to explain what had happened.  She said to me, “The report says there’s nothing there.  It says it could have been a corpus luteum cyst...but we would have seen that on the ultrasound.” Another guess was that it could have been a hemorrhagic follicle, but while I have been researching, I’ve learned that those have circulation on the outside of the membrane, not on the inside.  This did not look like a fluid filled sac on the ultrasound.  I told my doctor, “This is what we’ve been praying for.  I believe it is a miracle.”  She had no response other than to say, “Oh, you come from a faith background. That’s nice.”

Friends, like many of the people Jesus healed in the Bible accounts we read, my response is that I don’t know what went on that day.  All I know is that I had something they were very worried about… and now it’s totally gone! We believe God intervened and now I’m healed! We praise God and thank Him for this provision. It has grown us, humbled us, and encouraged us in a very real way. Thank you for your prayers!  They do indeed work. It has encouraged me to keep praying for the many internationals we work with. God does indeed hear us, and He is longing for the nations to come to him. As we pray, we partner with Him in the beautiful work of lives being changed. Do not stop praying, friends!!!
