International Thanksgiving & our 12-Year-Old daughter's Testimony
A TESTIMONY FROM OUR DAUGHTER (age 12): The past two years haven’t really gone like any of us had hoped. As 2019 ended, we were all looking forward to a new, fresh year filled with new, fresh things. I was looking forward to the basketball and volleyball seasons (which, thankfully, safely continued although pushed back). After two years with this virus called COVID-19, I am honestly getting SO SICK OF IT. I’m sure we all are. But, through this pandemic God has been working in our lives and in the lives of the internationals we work with. This summer we were able to have a Bible camp, and, although things didn’t go as planned, we still made a difference in the park we met in.
I have to say one of the biggest highlights this year was Thanksgiving… I was bummed we couldn’t be with family, and felt really sad about that. But, some of our awesome friends here in Madison :) stepped up and said that they would host Thanksgiving and that some internationals we had already invited to our house could come to their house too! So at about 3:30 p.m. several internationals came to our house, and we made pies and food and decorated our Christmas tree. It was really fun! Then we went to our friends’ house along with seven awesome internationals and ate food together (international and traditional American Thanksgiving food), did crafts, and my favorite part (other than the pretty sublime food assortment!) was when we went around the table to say what we were thankful for. I felt like I really got to minister to these wonderful people who some are lost and looking for something (or someone) to believe in...
