From Kristen's Heart: Worry, Provision, Gratitude and Trust
We just want to thank all of you for all the prayers, cards, and love you have all shown us through the years. Many of you have watched as our older daughter 'T' went to Thailand as a 1-year-old, and now as an 18-year-old is graduating from high school! I (Kris) wanted to share my story of how grateful I am and how faithful God is in our lives. T was a toddler when I started wondering (or worrying) how we could save for her college tuition. I wanted her to have the opportunity to go to a university, but as missionaries living from donation to donation, saving for college just wasn’t an option. Any money we had been able to save before becoming missionaries was eaten up by our extensive medical needs when we came off the field. I remember several times when Jesse and I had big discussions about how to save for school. Well, I realize now that I never should have worried. God had it all in His hands.
The past couple of months we have been totally humbled and blessed in ways we never imagined. The college T is going to attend gave her a wonderful scholarship for her grades. She also received a theater scholarship from the school, and two other scholarships from her high school. Then we began to wonder - even with her scholarships - how were we going to make the first payment? We should not have worried! God placed it on one of your hearts to give T a gift that will help her make that first tuition payment in the fall! All month we have been so amazed by the generosity of you, our friends and partners! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We are so thankful!
I’ve done speech therapy part-time at a local elementary school this past year to help with finances and keep my certifications and licenses up to date. The school asked me to take on another day, so I will work three days a week this coming year. This gift of another day will allow me to help our daughter make her school payments but will also give me enough time to stay involved part-time in our ministry with internationals. So thankful! Because I am adding another day of therapy, I need to change status with OMF, but will be able to continue serving several days per week. This doesn’t really change much, but is just a different title. Jesse will continue working full-time with OMF. Thanking God for His provision! Thank you for your prayers, your love, your gifts, your commitment to reaching the lost, and to our family. We love you and are so thankful for all of you.
