Asking for a Way: Prayers Answered!
“I WAS ASKING FOR A WAY” – One Saturday a few weeks ago a friend and I were praying Acts 1:8 together before going out to share our faith on campus. We asked for the Holy Spirit to give us power to be Jesus’ witnesses as the Lord promises in that verse. Almost immediately after praying, we encountered someone who was standing still. This sounds simple, but it was surprising to me because it is unusual in our city where people are usually very busy and rushing around. We began a conversation, and I don’t think I’ve ever met someone whom God had so evidently prepared their heart as much as this woman! We talked about our Bible discussion held in the community center very near to her apartment. She immediately promised she would come!
Later we found out she had been ‘asking for a way’ or praying for guidance. Many people need convincing, or a lot of time to get to know us first before attending. Not this woman: she and her family came to the very next Bible discussion! Afterwards, she told our team: “I want to get baptized”! Please pray for her and us as we continue to explain the Gospel to their family, and as they ‘count the cost’ of following Jesus…
